The story begins:
Finn O'Finnegan looked like a rogue and walked like a rascal, so it was broadly thought that he was at least one of the other. And his shadow, which followed him closely and knew all of his secrets, may possibly have said he was each."
What an enchanting funny story this one is. When Finn returns to his village after a remain in Dublin, he finds not all is properly. It appear that the Leprechauns have been keeping the complete village, which includes his blessed mother, up all night with their continual tapping as they make shoes for the fairies. It appears that the even more shoes the leprechauns can make, the even more gold they will get, fairy gold, and as absolutely everyone knows, leprechauns dearly adore their gold!
What to do? The villagers require their sleep, the leprechauns want additional gold and Finn is mainly intriguing in kicking back and receiving fat on his mother's soda bread. A leprechauns might be a crafty little creatures, shrewd little imps of the night and twilight, but they are no match for our rascally and roguish Fin O'Finnegan! He has a program and the next day he presents himself to the wee workaholics.
What continues is a battle of wits and let's face it, your typical leprechaun has no chance against a beneficial Irishman at any time. Needless to say, Finn saves his village and gets his soda bread.
I appreciate the art perform in this a single. The complete page oils by Dan Andreasen are wonderfully executed and I must say that this artist has his Wee Many people down pat. Youngsters adore to just look at the pictures in this a single, as you, the adult will. Every painting illustrates the text perfectly.
I should once again take umbrage with Publishers weekly and feel kids will have no difficulty what so ever in understanding the magical logic Finn makes use of to trick the leprechauns...hey, this is not rocket science stuff right here and any kid worth his salt knows additional about such issues than we adults do anyway. I also note that the School Library Journal is carping that the text does not explain the appearance of the rainbow as there is no mention of moisture. Well to start with, this is a fantasy Library people...you don't have to have a scientific purpose for throwing in a rainbow and I doubt if a large number of kids of the targeted age will shed much sleep more than this. But in any case, you are wrong. If you will note that in the morning when Finn pulls his trick that "the mist still lay heavy on the air." Finn has thee leprechauns hurry to the field ahead of the sun came out so he could catch the very first rays. Hey people, read the book just before you write the critique please! Besides, this work is not part of the curriculum of science 101...who cares?
All in all this is a splendid March tale which is really good for any time of the year. I like this 1 and is equal to any of the other perform this author and artist have turned out...which is all rather really good.

We know Dan Andreasen from the book "By the Dawn's Early Light" by Steven Kroll. This is a distinctive style of illustrations, but they are attention-grabbing and masterful.
Enjoyable story about rascal tricksters becoming out-tricked. If you like Native American trickster stories or Brer Rabbit stories, this will be suitable up your alley. And fans of gorgeous illustrations are in for a genuine treat!
